We have been fortunate in recent years to visit faraway places heretofore known only through movies, books, and the news media. The photos here are not the "best" (whatever that means). They were selected to give an overview of our travels. Some were included just because I really like them. A couple are unquestionably bad, but were needed for context. I chose only 24 photos from each trip so as not to overwhelm the viewer with quantity. Navigation is simple enough, but I'm open to suggestions as to improvement. Click on a photo below to get started.
Spain - Full disclosure. Not our favorite trip. Spain was beautiful, the people friendly, the food great. Plus we flew 1st and business to Madrid. However, Perry was pretty sick before we left and finished the trip with a 3 day stay in a delightful room with a view at Hospital Quiron in the hills above Barcelona. These are not the best photos either, as you will see.
Australia  - Best Groupon ever! Cairns and snorkling the Great Barrier Reef, Melbourne, Adelaide, Kangaroo Island, and Sydney. Worth every minute of the 14+ hours each way in coach. Fun!
Prague to Vienna - Three days in Old Town Prague before decamping to Nuremberg and boarding Uniworld's River Princess. Floating south on the man-made Main-Danube canal we ventured through various old German towns. Soon we joined the Danube River, entered Austria, visiting Melk, the Wachau Valley, and finally waltzing into Vienna arm-in-arm.
China - We booked a motorcoach group tour. Surprise! We were the only people on the tour. So, at each city it was just our guide, our driver, and us. It was great! Starting in Shanghai, then up the Yangtze River to Chongquing, then Xi'An and Beijing. Many places in between.
Africa - Absolutely the trip of a lifetime. Starting in Nairobi, we visited 6 venues in Kenya and Tanzania. Each day we had a morning and an afternoon safari. We traveled small dirt roads and, occasionally, bounced across the savanna. It was all about the animals and the Great Migration. How do you parse 2000+ images down to 24 and attempt to get a sense of the experience? With much difficulty.
Italy - Unable to book our desired flights, we were forced to extend our trip from 14 days to 21. Bummer, right? It was 1st/Business to Zurich, then train to Milan and beyond. We rented a car in Florence for the freedom to tour Tuscany for a few days before heading to Rome. Fantastic trip. Karen planned and executed the wonderful itinerary to perfection. Great trip.
England and France - Our pencils were nubs after checking off the Bucket List boxes on this trip. Wow! So many exciting things to see and do. Walking around Stonehenge, a spontaneous lunch with the Bishop of Manchester, riding the Chunnel, seeing the Mona Lisa, lunch in the Eiffel Tower...and much, much, more.
